Technology in Job Searching
Can you really figure out a prospected employee through the virtual world. I feel that when people initially apply for a job that the virtual side of everything is great, but if someone is hired based solely on the virtual aspects which would be an emailed resume, a phone interview, or any virtual communication. I believe that the more impersonal communications that the job seeking world is going to is not a good thing. I believe that we should stick to the old fashion way of interviewing and job searching. Do you agree?

I agree that in the search for the new, best way to hire, some of the more historically trusted methods are falling to the waist side. Interviews give so much information. An interviewer gains just as many non-verbal opinions as verbal opinions. I feel that interviews should retain their place as one of the most tried-and-true hiring techniques.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both you. Virtual aspects of obtaining an employee are more cost efficient for the employer. However, you cannot judge a book by its cover! A resume, a phone interview, or a telecast meeting do not fully represent who, what, why a potential employee is qualified for that position. I also feel that face to face interviews are the best indicators employers have in deciding between applicants.
