Engineering is such an exact science, and I believe that this industry should be the most aggressive in obtaining the cutting edge technology that is available. On the designing part of the engineering world everything is based off exact measurements and material samples. More specifically in the construction design and build world the information that is given to the engineers is always changing. Technology can keep everyone that is involved with the design to where changes can be made accordingly.
One of the most evident types of engineering in the Louisiana region is oil and gas production and exploration. Also, as we have seen in the recent BP crisis every aspect of design has to be taken with patience and preciseness. My question is 1) Do we have the correct engineering technology capabilities to prevent these natural disasters, and if not how can we go about changing this? 2) What is your take on the exploration of oil and gas on our homeland, and whether or not we are over our heads in this somewhat new industry in the US?

Technology in Job Searching
Can you really figure out a prospected employee through the virtual world. I feel that when people initially apply for a job that the virtual side of everything is great, but if someone is hired based solely on the virtual aspects which would be an emailed resume, a phone interview, or any virtual communication. I believe that the more impersonal communications that the job seeking world is going to is not a good thing. I believe that we should stick to the old fashion way of interviewing and job searching. Do you agree?

IT in the sports world?
During a football game when there is a call that can go either way, every fan in the stadium starts to franticly yell for a replay and proof. This last resort effort to reverse the on the field judges' call gives us, the fan, a slight chance of hope that can turn the now ill-favored call to our teams favor. The implementation of instant replay in football is one of the many technological advances in sports today. IT is now being integrated into the sports world in many different ways. Most of the technology used in todays sport venues are based on a judgment call that the human judge could not see or was simply wrong. Many complain that the technology slows down the game and loses the interest of fans from every age. I am completely against the idea of this new innovation putting a damper on the sports world. I believe that if we have the ability to look back on our mistakes why wouldn't we?
1. Does the technology really slow down the game?
2. Is it really fair to go back on a call that has already been deciphered?
3. Which type of in-game sports technology do you agree/disagree with the most?

Is Outsourcing the answer?
Outsourcing is absolutely the way to save money and theoretically become a more productive institution, but just like everything in life personal assurance is much more appealing. Outsourcing in my opinion can create negativity that can sometimes ruin a company's core competence. Mrs. Fields Cookies is a prime example of this because Mrs. Fields knew that she was the "main ingredient" that made her product successful. She not only was the name and face for the product, but also had the personal connection and self accomplishment behind her true love of making cookies. In our changing world that we live in I feel like the world has stopped caring about the journey and started to focus on the final product.
My entire life has been filled with production, and I believe that is what changes our perception of personal satisfaction. I personally have pride in the my own accomplishments in not only the completed version, but also the road that was taken to get there. How do you feel about outsourcing, and would you connect outsourcing with the current "final product" mindset of todays world intertwined?
